Dear Parents,
On Tuesday this week we celebrated a special paraliturgy for Remembrance Day. During this paraliturgy we remembered the bravery and sacrifice of our fellow Australians who served in many conflicts to keep us safe. We listened to a gospel reading from John, reminding us of the importance of peace, and we prayed as a school for peace in our world.
The theme of peace is also reflected by Pope Leo in a special prayer on the Pope Leo prayer cards I brought back from Rome, which were given to all students this week. “Peace be with you all! God loves everyone! May this greeting of peace enter your hearts.”
Thank you to our Parents and Friends for organizing a sausage sizzle at Bunnings in Carrum Downs this Sunday (16th November). I am grateful to the many parents who are generously assisting with the running of this event on the day. This is an important fundraising opportunity for the school and is much appreciated.
On Thursday evening next week we have our final School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting for this year. This meeting will focus on reviewing the work of the SAC this year and planning for 2026.
We are really looking forward to our annual Italian Day celebrations next Friday (21st November). Students are asked to come dressed in an Italian themed costume or Italian colours, and we will have an Italian Day parade in the hall at 8:45 a.m. next Friday morning. This will be followed by an Italian themed performance, and a variety of fun Italian themed activities, for the remainder of the day.
Preparations for our school Colour Fun Run are progressing well, with students getting more and more excited as the date (Friday 28th November) approaches. Thank you to parents for your support of this fun filled event for our students.
Best wishes to our Foundation students and staff for their forthcoming excursion to the Enchanted Maze on Arthur’s seat on Thursday 4th December.
Our Christmas assemblies on Friday 5th and Friday 12th December are one of our end of year highlights. All parents are warmly invited to join us to help us celebrate the birth of Jesus and the joy of Christmas at these assemblies. The following classes will perform on the following dates. Friday 5th December at 2:00 p.m. in the hall – (JSE, JMR, JTA, MSM, MLR, SLN, SWD) and Friday 12th November – (FRZ, FRF, JDB, MNG, MYK, SHJ, STC)
As previously advised, students will be dismissed for the end of the school year on Tuesday 16th December at 3:00 p.m.

The liturgy began with a reflection on the significance of this important day for all Australians, reminding us of the courage and sacrifice shown by the many men and women who have served our country in times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping.
Through prayer, music, and reflection, we offered our intentions for peace in our world — that all people may live with hope, freedom, and compassion.
This meaningful experience encouraged our students to pause and reflect with gratitude for those who gave their lives so that we might enjoy the blessings of peace and safety today.
As a school, we remain committed to nurturing understanding, respect, and peace in our own community and beyond.
In the Catholic Church, the month of November is a special time dedicated to remembering and praying for all who have died. It begins with the Feast of All Saints and the Commemoration of All Souls, reminding us to give thanks for the saints and to pray for our loved ones who have gone before us. During this month, we reflect with gratitude, hold their memories close in our hearts, and place our hope in the promise of eternal life with God.
During our school assembly this Monday, our Mini Vinnies team proudly presented the funds they had raised from the Mini Vinnies Fete, to Peter Vyverberg from the St Vincent de Paul Society. This special moment was a wonderful way to recognise the generosity and compassion of our students and families who contributed to supporting those in need within our local community.
The St Vincent de Paul team from St Anne’s Parish will be delivering Christmas gift hampers to families in need on Sunday, 21st December 2025, from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
We are currently seeking volunteers and drivers to help with deliveries and spread a little Christmas joy to those in our community who need it most.
If you’re able to assist, please contact Peter Vyverberg on 0432 120 704.
Your time and generosity will make a real difference this Christmas.
Many thanks,
St Anne’s Vinnies Hamper Team
Thursday 13th November
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells His friends that hard times will come, times when people will be afraid or unsure of what will happen next. But He also gives them an important message:
“Do not be afraid. Stand firm, and you will win life.”Jesus is reminding us that no matter what happens, God is always with us. Even when life feels unfair or confusing, we can trust that God will give us the strength we need.
Today is also the World Day of the Poor, a special day when we think about people who don’t have enough food, a safe place to live, or people to care for them. Jesus loved the poor and spent much of His time helping them and He asks us to do the same.
When we share what we have, include others, or show kindness to someone who is struggling, we are doing God’s work. Even small actions such as a smile, a kind word, a shared lunch, or standing up for someone can make a big difference. So today, let’s remember Jesus’ words: stand firm and do not be afraid. Let’s be brave in kindness and strong in love, especially for those who need it most. That’s how we make God’s light shine in our world.
Upon reflection of our mass, we asked the questions,
When have we had to stay strong and not give up?
How can we be a “light” or bring healing to others like the “sun of justice”?
How can we show responsibility and fairness in our classroom or home?
How can I bring hope or fairness to others (e.g., helping someone who’s lonely, recycling, standing up for a friend).
We recorded our reflections on rays of the sun to represent how we can take action and be ‘rays of justice’ to all.
We invite our school community to join in for these special occasions.

In celebration of the number 2, our creative Year 2 students explored the art of clay building. They shaped their own pinch pots and learned how to connect pieces using the scratch, slip, and attach technique. To finish, each student carefully painted their creation using two colours, showing off their artistic flair and attention to detail. The results were truly two-riffic!

There are a number of children with overdue books: in most instances the library continues to loan books as we like to encourage reading but we would appreciate the books back. Thanks for your support.
