Dear Parents,
As we come to the end of a long, wintery term, we have much to be proud of. This term has been a busy one full of learning, fun, friendships and continuing to deepen our faith through prayer, liturgy and the sacraments.
Thank you to parents and teachers who met for Parent/Teacher interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons this week. As you know, a strong and positive home/school partnership is so important in supporting all of our students’ academic growth and wellbeing.
We will celebrate the Feast Day of St. Joachim and St. Anne on Friday 25th July. (Friday of the first week of next term). On this day we will celebrate a whole school Mass at 9:30 a.m. with St. Anne’s School at the Church. St Joachim's students will travel to and from St Anne's church by bus. After Mass students will return to school to participate in some fun Feast Day activities. All parents are warmly invited to join us for the Mass on this day.
Preparations for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Saturday 2nd August are well underway. Confirmation Mass will commence at 1:00 p.m. at the Cathedral. Families are asked to arrive early to find parking and be seated inside the Church by 12:40 p.m. This will ensure our students are relaxed and ready to reverently receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit at this special Sacrament of Initiation.
A reminder about our Parents and Friends Music Bingo/Trivia night which will be held in the hall on the evening of Saturday 9th August. These nights are always fun and a great fundraiser for the school. I encourage you to come along if you can. Tickets are $15 and doors open at 6:00 p.m. ready for a start at 7:00 p.m.
Please note these Term 3 dates for your calendar:

Fiona: In today’s Gospel, Jesus sent His disciples out to share His message of good news. As a class, we thought about what being His messengers might look like, sound like, and feel like. We also reflected on how Jesus calls each of us to be messengers of love and peace. We spent time discussing how, through our words and actions, we can show our love for God and be signs of hope and good news to others.

Being on time is important — students who arrive late miss the outline of the day and morning circle time, which are essential for setting up a positive and productive day. Late arrivals can also interrupt teaching and the learning of others.
So, next term - Term 3, let’s all make a big effort to get to school on time and give every student the best start to their day!
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) on School Students who require adjustments to their learning is a yearly count of students by all Australian schools across the country. The NCCD aims to provide the Australian Government with information about the number of students who require support and adjustments in Australian schools and the type of adjustments they need in order to access and participate in education on the same basis as other students. If you are a parent, guardian or carer of a child who requires ongoing adjustments at school, a teacher or another school staff member will consult with you to understand your child’s needs. This collaborative approach ensures the most appropriate adjustments are chosen to support your child’s learning and participation at school. In some cases, a personal learning plan (PLP) may be developed to document specific educational goals and to review your child’s progress over time.

Please help us in keeping everyone safe by heading into the office if you are coming onto the school grounds. You will notice that all road facing internal gates and doors will be locked during learning times throughout the day.
Please enter through the office and inform office staff if you arrive during the learning time.

Over the past few weeks, students submitted name suggestions, sparking thoughtful discussion and some fun debate across grade levels. Finalists were chosen by the 5/6 cohort of students, and then the entire student body was invited to vote for their favourite.
The newly named event will continue to be a celebration of imagination, talent, and creativity!
Enjoy a restful break and look forward to celebrating a fantabulous event in Term 3!
The lids can be from milk containers, laundry detergents, medicine lids... the more shapes, sizes and colour the better!
They can be dropped off at the ART HUB on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Thanks in advance for your help !

Encouraging children to read during school holidays is vital for maintaining their literacy skills and fostering a lifelong love of reading.
Here are some tips for helping children to read during these school holidays.
Tips for Helping Beginning Readers
Load your home with books and reading materials that reflect the school holidays.
Read short passages several times to your child until they can read it with you. Then encourage them to read the passage to you.
Encourage older children to read with younger children.
Tips for Helping Advanced Readers
Talk to your child about what he or she is reading. Ask open-ended questions such as "What do you think about that story?" "What would you have done if you were that character?"
Visit the public library. Help your child to get his or her own library card.
Encourage your child to select books that reflect the holiday.
Read to your child regularly, even after your child is able to read some books independently.
Listen to your child read and praise their efforts at reading.
This is what reading looks like at St Joachim’s School.
