Dear Parents,
Our Book Fair this week was a great success, with many families visiting, browsing and purchasing books for children to read. Thank you to Leonie Richardson who organized this opportunity for our students to encourage reading for enjoyment.
Year 3 and 4 students are really looking forward to sharing their learning about Australia’s neighbouring countries at our Middle school expo next Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the classrooms. I hope you can join us.
Thank you to families who have already completed their MACSSIS survey. I strongly encourage all families to complete this survey, providing us with feedback about a number of important aspects of our school. Your feedback is highly valued and contributes to our ongoing school improvement plans. With thanks.
Our 2026 enrolments for Foundation are now full. I am pleased to report that we have 50 new students enrolled, and it is encouraging that we had many more inquiries for enrolment than we could take.
Preparations for our Student disco are well underway. This fun event will be held next Thursday after school (18th September). Foundation to Year 2 students’ session is from 4:45 – 5:45 pm and our Year 3 – 6 students’ session is from 6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. Tickets are selling for $5.00 on the CDF app. Parents are asked to please pick children up promptly at the end of your child’s session.
Next Friday students are asked to come dressed in their favourite footy team colours (soccer and rugby etc also welcome). We will celebrate all teams at our footy day parade, which will be held at 8:45 a.m. on Friday 19th September. All parents are warmly invited to join us.

(THE EXHALTATION OF THE CROSS )
The cross is a very special symbol of our faith because it reminds us of Jesus’ death and resurrection. It is also a reminder of how much God loves the world and all of us unconditionally. God loved the world so much, He sent His Son, Jesus, to bring us closer to Him. We open our hearts in prayer and gratitude as we honour the cross and the powerful message of God’s love.
In class we discussed how and why people make sacrifices for others that they love. We thought about the sacrifices that our parents make for us everyday to love and care for us. We wondered about what we are ready and willing to sacrifice for our friends and family.
To express our gratitude for the sacrifices our parents, friends, teachers and community members make, we wrote heartfelt letters of thanks acknowledging their effort and unconditional love.
“What is the significance of the cross?”
“Why do people make sacrifices for others that they love?”
“What are we ready and willing to sacrifice for our friends and family. ?”
We pray that the Church will be a sign of hope in the world. Lord, hear us.
We pray that there will be peace in places where there is violence. Lord, hear us.
We pray that our community will always remember to look after people who are old or sick or lonely. Lord, hear us.
We pray everyone will feel welcome in our school and parish community. Lord, hear us.
We pray that we will take up our cross and follow in the footsteps of Jesus who took up his cross for us. Lord, hear us.

My Year 6 leaders; Sajith and Storm; have been, ‘molto bene’, and they are looking forward to hosting our annual Italian Day next term.
Italian Day will take place on Friday, November 21st. (More information will follow next term). In the meantime, if you have any experience in making pasta, please reach out to me and hopefully you can assist on Italian Day. Until then, chat to your children about what they have learnt during Italian lessons. Some classes will be bringing home work samples so encourage them to read those to you. Finally, feel free to visit the Italian room anytime. A presto!
Grazie mille,
Signora Colaciello

The Year 3 students are learning about 3D objects. They have been exploring characteristics of 3D objects and determine which objects would have the best strength to use as a base for a bridge. The children enjoyed constructing their objects out of sticks and play dough and look forward to testing their bridges out.
