Dear Parents,
As the cold Winter weather sets in, it is great to see students coming warmly dressed in their correct school uniform and/or sports uniform, on the day they have sport. Please ensure that these uniforms are not mixed together, so that all students can continue to wear their correct uniform proudly on the appropriate days.
Well done to Lexi, Ruby, Nevaeh and Hamish who represented St. Joachim’s at the Metropolitan Cross Country Competition at Hastings on Wednesday. All of our runners ran extremely well and gave their best effort against some very tough competition on a cold and windy day. Thank you to our parents who attended in support and provided transport.
Our Year 5 and 6 students have been eagerly practising their Winter sports, in readiness for the Winter Lightning Premiership competition next Friday (27th June). We have teams in football, netball and soccer, and will compete against 6 teams from local schools. Go St. Joachim’s!
We are really looking forward to our whole school Art show which will be held on Thursday and Friday 28th and 29th August (Week 6 of next term). The Art show will showcase our students’ creative and imaginative talents through their fabulous art work. Please see the flyer further on in this newsletter for more details.
Many of our Year 5 students attended our regional Catholic Secondary College, John Paul College, in Frankston this morning. From all reports our students were impressed by the sense of welcome, hospitality and the engaging activities they participated in, as part of their preparation to transition into secondary school.
Thank you to the many parents who have already made an appointment time for our Parent/Teacher interviews, which will be held on Tuesday 1st July and Wednesday 2nd July, until 6:00 p.m. on each evening. If you are yet to make an appointment time, I encourage you to do so using the link sent out on Operoo. With thanks.
Thank you also to our wonderful Parents and Friends group who are busily organizing a fantastic Music/Bingo/Trivia Night event on Saturday 9th August here at school. This night is a great social and community event, and is always a fun packed opportunity to connect with parents in the school community that you may not have met. Please see the flyer further on in this newsletter.
This Sunday is the feast of Corpus Christi (the Body and Blood of Christ). This important feast day celebrates the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Sunday’s Gospel reading focuses on Jesus feeding the five thousand. This story reminds us of the abundance of God’s grace for all, which is celebrated in the Eucharist at each Mass.
Some forthcoming dates for your calendars;
Monday 23rd June – Musica Viva incursion – whole school
Friday 27th June – Winter Lightning Premiership for Year 5 / 6 students
Tuesday 1st July (3:30 pm – 6:00 pm) & Wednesday 2nd July (2:00 pm – 6:00 pm) – Parent/Teacher interviews. Please note that school will finish early at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday 2nd July.
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday 2nd August at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

We are looking forward to all our students participating in a whole school music incursion on Monday June 23, 2025. A band from the Torres Strait Islands called 'Wyniss' will be coming.
All parents, carers and families are welcome to attend at the following times to watch the performance.
MIDDLES AND SENIORS (Years 3 - 6) 9:30am - 10:20am
FOUNDATION AND JUNIORS (Years Foundation -2) 11:20am - 12:10pm
As the colder months set in, we remind all families that students should be wearing their full winter uniform to school. Please ensure that all uniform items—especially jumpers and jackets—are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This helps us return any lost items quickly and ensures everyone stays warm during the winter season.
Thank you for your support.
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) on School Students who require adjustments to their learning is a yearly count of students by all Australian schools across the country. The NCCD aims to provide the Australian Government with information about the number of students who require support and adjustments in Australian schools and the type of adjustments they need in order to access and participate in education on the same basis as other students. If you are a parent, guardian or carer of a child who requires ongoing adjustments at school, a teacher or another school staff member will consult with you to understand your child’s needs. This collaborative approach ensures the most appropriate adjustments are chosen to support your child’s learning and participation at school. In some cases, a personal learning plan (PLP) may be developed to document specific educational goals and to review your child’s progress over time.

Unfortunately this Mass did not go ahead due to an issue with the chapel window however the students had still taken time to prepare and practise for it. They spoke in depth about how they would like to express the prayers of the faithful.
We pray for world leaders: that they may work to make sure that all people can have what they need to live life to the full.
Lord, hear us.
All: Lord hear our prayer.
We pray for those who provide for us, like our family and friends. May we continue to be grateful for all of the food, warmth, shelter and love that they bring.
Lord, hear us.
All: Lord hear our prayer.
We pray for our parish, family and friends: that we may be willing to share what we have with others. May we work to build a brighter world together for all our global family.
All: Lord hear our prayer.
Dear God, in this Jubilee Year, we pray that we may be signs of hope in our world through all that we do and how we treat one another.
Lord, hear us.
All: Lord hear our prayer.

The children are learning about place value. The task was to bundle 10 ice pole sticks and then we practiced skip counting by 10s.
The Foundation students discussed random acts of kindness. The children then drew their act of kindness to create this great image.
All Year 5 students spent this morning at JPC's Year 5 Transition Day. They had a fabulous day experiencing a morning in a secondary college environment. Thanks to Mrs Naidoo and Mrs Cranch for taking photos.
Please help us in keeping everyone safe by heading into the office if you are coming onto the school grounds. You will notice that all road facing internal gates and doors will be locked during learning times throughout the day.
Please enter through the office and inform office staff if you arrive during the learning time.

A big “Thankyou to Tahlia” (Trinity- JDB and Tori- JSE, Mum) for creating an amazingly beautiful art installation piece for our school, based on our school being a safe space and focussing on the community .
Thanks Tahlia for all your time , energy and talent. We are all so grateful
I am thrilled to invite you to a vibrant and inspiring celebration of creativity at our upcoming Primary School Art Exhibition — a journey across continents through the eyes of our talented students!
Our students have embarked on a global artistic exploration, creating masterpieces inspired by diverse cultures and continents. The exhibition features:
Colourful Displays: Walls adorned with vibrant artworks representing each continent from different year levels.
Come Dressed: as your favourite artist or wearing your favourite colour (s)!
Interactive Stations: Engage with art from different cultures, including African paintings, Asian Elephants, and Mexican folk art as well as so much more!
Student Guides: Our young artists will be on hand to share the stories and inspirations behind their creations.
Collaborative Art Display: Engage in creating a new art installation at the event.
Upon entry, each family will receive a "World Art Passport." As you explore the exhibition, collect stamps from each continent's display. and answer questions about the art pieces!
This exhibition is more than just an art show—it's a testament to our students' imagination, hard work, and the rich tapestry of cultures that inspire them. We look forward to sharing this colourful journey with you and celebrating the universal language of art!
The title of the ART EXHIBITION is yet to come as the students in Year 5/6 are currently deciding on a name for the event.
The lids can be from milk containers, laundry detergents, medicine lids... the more shapes, sizes and colour the better!
They can be dropped off at the ART HUB on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Thanks in advance for your help !

We are all looking forward to welcoming Wyniss to perform for us. All year levels are currently learning about their music, instruments, costumes and culture and learning to sing and play some of their music.
The photos below show students learning about WAMI FISHING music and string figure traditions. WAMI are string figures that are used as part of Wyniss’ songs. Here, the students have created a spear out of string for the song WAMI FAST FISHING.
