Dear Parents,
Welcome back to a much cooler Term 2. I hope all families had a restful and relaxing break over the school holidays and enjoyed a happy Easter with family and friends.
Our first week back at school this term was a busy one, with students visiting the chapel for Easter meditations, our Year 3 and 4 students attending camp at Flinders, and finishing the week with a special paraliturgy to remember and honour the service and sacrifice of the ANZACS on ANZAC Day.
Thank you to parents and students who attended the First Eucharist preparation/information session on Monday evening this week. Students are now working through their sacramental work books, as part of their ongoing preparation to receive the sacrament of First Eucharist at one of St. Anne’s parish Masses in August.
We are continuing to receive strong interest in Foundation enrolments for 2026. At this stage we have 27 siblings, with a number of interviews of new families completed, and more to come.
Best wishes to our Middle students for their Dream City STEAM incursion next Monday. I look forward to hearing more about their exciting learning.
Please note the following forthcoming dates in your diaries:
All of our wonderful mums are warmly invited to come along and enjoy a delicious hot breakfast with their child/ren at our annual Mothers’ Day breakfast next Friday (9th May) starting at 7:30 a.m. in the hall. We will also be running a Mothers’ day stall on Friday 9th May. A huge thank you to our amazing Parents and Friends group for their organisation and running of these 2 important events, to say thank you to our mums for the many fabulous things they do for their families and our school.
Cross country trials for interested students in Years 4 – 6 will take place at school next Friday 9th May from 11:15 a.m. onwards. Students involved in the trials are asked to wear their sports uniform on this day.
On Monday and Tuesday 19th/20th May eight of our staff members will complete their professional learning on the Berry Street Education model. Berry Street training provides a suite of trauma-informed, strengths-based strategies for engaging all students with learning.
Some advance notice that our Year 3 and 4 swimming program will commence on Monday 26th May and run from Monday to Thursday over 2 weeks. The last day of swimming is Tuesday 10th June. Swimming will be held at Paul Sadler Swimland on Hall Road and students will bus to and from the venue.
Our Year 5 / 6 students are really looking forward to their outdoor adventure camp at Camp Adanac in Yarra Junction. Students will leave for camp on Wednesday 28th May and return to school on Friday 30th May (3 days, 2 nights).
A reminder that the Sacrament of Reconciliation for our Year 3 students will be held on Saturday 31st May at 3:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church.
Our pupil free/school closure day this term will be held on Monday 16th June. On this day staff will be working on behaviour management and student engagement strategies.
Regards,
Paul Dwyer, Principal
