The Squirrels

On June 11, 2007, this email was forwarded to us by one of the out of

state shelters we work with.

Hello

We need to find a loving home for 4 ferrets. My boyfriend bought the four ferrets about 4 years ago from his local pet shop. He bought them at a time in his life when he was feeling lonely and thought getting four ferrets would help. He loves animals and has always brought home strays. The problem is for the last two years with his new job, he travels 20+ days of the month and can't properly care for them, which we both agree is not fair to squirt, flash, cinnamon and ginger. They are either in their cage or in a bathroom for most of the time. He does have someone stop by to make sure they have food and water but, it just isn't fair to the ferrets not to have the attention they need. He is in the Joliet Illinois area. Do you know of a place that we can take the ferrets to, will they will get a loving home?

Thanks

Shortly afterward, the couple was given our number, connected with us,

& brought their ferrets to Zoo`s Ferret Sanctuary to live. During that

time, our website was full, but we have more space now, & are updating.

UPDATE:

It is now March 7th, 2010.

Squirt went adrenal, right after our last entry, and

lost all of her beautiful fur. When the lupron didn`t bring it back, we knew

there were bigger monsters in the closet :(

Squirt lost her battle with cancer on October 6, 2008.

Flash left us on April 12th, 2009.

Cinnamon & Ginger are now about seven years old.

Cinnamon is insulinomic, and on meds for life. At this time, she s doing

well, and lives on the meds wall with Kodo. She runs & plays with the other

group--just seems to enjoy Kodo`s company more, when it`s time to settle

down.

Ginger went adrenal a few months ago. She lost everything but her socks

& hat. The lupron has given her a thick, beautiful new coat. Her energy

level is great! Ginger gets along well with everyone, and takes turns

sleeping with first one group & then another. Her new coat is much more

golden than the old one was. It`s time for me to grab the camera again!!!

More later.
