Snickers & Bacardi

This is a paragraph from the email we received on December 11, 2007:

"I had a referral to your website zoosferretsanctuary.com and saw that you

take care of ferrets who do not have a home. I have two ferrets, a male

and female who are less than two years old. And my schedule is getting

more and more busy, and i feel like Im not spending enough time playing

with them because of how busy I am. I love them both very much, and I

dont want to neglect them, so I wanted to find a home to take them in,

but i didnt want to just give them to anyone. Ive heard of horror stories of

college kids leaving them behind and letting them starve to death, and

that scared me. So what i was wondering is if you knew anyone who would

want them. I didn`t want money for them, i just want a loving home for

 them."

We figured "Yup. Another "busy" young person, wanting to abandon their

 commitment to their pet"

NOTHING could have been further from the truth!

We took in Snickers & Bacardi, promised they would stay here with us,and

made our usual request. We ask for volunteer help, or sponsorship,

because we will be assuming the full responsibility, care, & expense of the

animals we are taking in. It`s a lot of work. We need help! (Most promise,

but once they walk away, they don`t care what they have placed on

someone else`s shoulders. It`s sad & irresponsible, but most don`t care.)

The young woman agreed to come weekly on Sundays. And EVERY SINGLE

WEEK, save two, she was here for nearly 2 years! She visited her

furchildren, stripped & dressed their cage every single week--and washed

all the meds dishes.  She also brought baby meats & distilled water. What

a Godsend she was!!!  Someone we could count on. She stayed in their

lives. She became like a daughter, and we have been very close.

To finish her schooling, she was forced to move away, recently, but she has

kept in touch, and has come back to visit us.

She is an amazing young woman. Far above the norm. I am so grateful for

her friendship. She has been very good to the fuzzies--and to us!

Snickers & Bacardi are now about four years old.  Snickers no longer nips

noses, and both are healthy (for now!)

More later!
