Callie & Tosha

Callie and Tosha joined the family at Zoo`s Ferret Sanctuary in the early

spring of 2005. They were only 16 weeks old at that time.

A mom had purchased these kits for herself, and she loved them very

much.

Her eight year old son displayed cold-like symptoms for several weeks, and

when she took him to the doctor, allergy tests revealed the son was

allergic to nearly every animal known to man.

The mom was devastated at the thought of having to give them up. She

wanted to be sure her babies would stay here with us, so that she would

know exactly where they were. She wanted to keep in touch, be updated

from time to time, and come visit them. Of course, we promised her that

her furkids would stay here with us, and that she would always be

welcome to come & visit them.

Both girls are sweet and playful. They are helping keep the others young!

The picture below was taken in April of 2005.

UPDATE:

When we went to let Callie & Tosha`s play group out on May 8th,

2008, Tosha didn`t come out of her hammy. She had died in her sleep,

sometime during the night. It was sudden. She was in a sleeping position,

and looked very comfortable. This was quite a shocker.

Update: January 25, 2010

Callie is still with us, and is going strong. She went adrenal, several

months ago, & is on lupron. She has re-grown her beautiful coat, and all

symptoms have disappeared.

She runs with the Star Wars group.

Callie is famous for hugging my wrist when I reach over the gate, so that I

can lift her up, & give her kisses.

It`s hard to believe she`s five years old already...

More later.
