Information from the 1911 census
Richard George Head was in the Army in 1911 - he is described as a private in the 1911 census. He was at home, at 71 Smith Street, with his family on the night of the census. His father, Richard Head, 55, was a labourer, born in Shropshire; his mother Alice Head, 46, was from Maidstone, Kent. Richard Head was one of at least five children:
Emily Alice Head, 27, a domestic servant, born in Maidstone
Elizabeth Jane Head, 19, made fancy workboxes, born in Newington

Note
Kennington Oval residents of long-standing will remember the butcher's shop owned by the Head family on Clapham Road, a few yards down from St Mark's Church. I don't know if that family is related to the family of Richard George Head.
