Ernest Briggs was the son of Burton and Mary Ann Briggs of Kenningon. In 1911 the Briggs family lived in five rooms at 7 Queen’s Row [where is this?] in Newington, Southwark. Ernest’s father Burton, then 42, was recorded as out of work. He was originally from Durham; Mary Ann was from Limehouse, east London. The household included Barton’s father and an unemployed boarder. Ernest was not recorded at this address on the night of the census.
