Information from the 1901 census
In 1901 Alfred William Salmon was 25 and living with his family at 149b Hillingdon Street, Newington. His father, Samuel Salmon, 52, was a water company's inspector, married to Lucy Salmon, 50. Alfred was working as a domestic servant (specifically an "under valet"). There were two younger sisters, Jessie A. Salmon, 20, and Florence A. Salmon, 15. Alfred's age does not tally with that given on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database. If the census is correct, he would have been 39 at the time he died.
