No. 1 Coy., Son of Harry Robert and Ellen Williams, of 22, Farmer's Rd., Camberwell, London. The Scotstown Memorial lists his having been awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal which no evidence supporting this has yet been found. Listed in the De Ruvigny Roll of Honour, entry as follows: Son of Harry Robert Williams of 22 Farmer Road, Kennington Park, London S.E., by his wife, Ellen, daughter of Mathew Langridge. Born Kennington aforesaid, went to Canada in 1910, and settled in Quebec as a Farmer. Enlisted 7th September 1916, came to England in December, served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from 6th March and died at No 7 General Hospital, France on 24th August 1917 from wounds received in action at Lens on the 15th of that month. Buried in the Souvenir Cemetery, St. Omer. An Officer wrote: " He fell during one of the most glorious actions ever made by the Canadians and his death along with other of his gallant chums is very much regretted." Unmarried.
