198 kHz BBC Radio 4.

BBC Long Wave radio broadcasts can be received throughout the UK and at sea around the coasts of Britain and Ireland.

BBC Radio 4 on long wave radio is the UK national broadcaster in times of national emergency such as a war. If all other radio stations were forced to close then BBC Radio 4 on long wave radio would still continue broadcasting.

If UK commanders of nuclear-armed submarines lost communications and believed that the UK chain of command had been destroyed they are required to check if they can still receive BBC Radio 4 on long wave before they made any final decision to launch a retaliatory nuclear missile strike.

How to begin a radio station in Somalia.

To build a radio station you need to deliver the radio equipment.

Bosasso airport, North East Somalia.

The airport at Bosasso in July 1993 in North East Somalia (known from the 1st August 1998 as the Puntland State of Somalia).

Two Australian volunteers Sam Voron VK2BVS, 6O0A from Sydney, Australia and Abdikarim Nur Mohamud (who would qualify to gain the Somalia amateur radio call sign 6O0W) arrived in Bosasso, Somalia with donated short wave radio equipment in July 1993 to build the first broadcast radio station in North East Somalia.
