Don't let a hacker get to your email

Recently, The gmail accounts of two of my dear friends got hacked. The hacker read their friends and relatives to send them money by assuming their identities and sending them distress emails. Some of them did and sent a huge sum of money which was never recovered.

Apart from the money, their accounts were cleaned out and they lost all their emails accumulated over several years.

Don’t let this happen to you. Use 2-step authentication which adds an extra layer of security to your email account. In addition to your username and password, you will have to enter a code that will be sent you via sms or a mobile application that you will be asked to installed on your phone.

The code shown on the mobile app is not fixed but changes every minute.Whenever you use email on a new computer you will be asked to enter the code from your mobile application. This way even if a hacker cracks your password, he still can’t access your account as he cannot get the authentication code.

To enable the same for gmail account please visit www.google.com/2step and use this great way to safeguard your email account. The same is also available for yahoo, hotmail & others.
