Bristol's Conservation Area 18: Cotham & Redland

Bristol City Council has detailed Character Appraisals of its Conservation Areas.

There are 33 such areas in Bristol; Cotham and Redland is designated as Area 18, and its Character Appraisal was published in 2011.

Appraisal of areas of architectural or historic interest is a statutory duty, and is intended to lead to “an understanding and articulation of (an area’s) character, which can be used to develop a robust policy framework for planning decisions”. The Appraisal “provides a tool..... to recognise the special interest of the area in order that it can be preserved or enhanced”.

Redland Green comes under Conservation Area 18, and the Character Appraisal for the area can be downloaded from the Council’s website.
