Nature watch

Many different birds and animals live on Redland Green or pass through it.

Foxes live on the allotments and in many of the gardens in the area; it is not unusual to see them in the park.

Bats are also commonly seen. A survey carried out in 2008, for Bristol Street Trees recorded the presence of Leisler’s Bat (Nyctalus leisler), and the Soprano Pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pygmaeus).

In addition to the more common garden birds, such as thrushes, blackbirds, tits, and magpies, Great Spotted Woodpeckers have also been seen and can be heard hammering in the trees around the Dell area throughout Spring.
