20221204 Minutes of AGM - Federation of Ratepayer Associations of New Zealand Inc

2.30 p.m. Jane Johnston opened the Zoom account

David Senior : Kerikeri - ex Te Huki Ward councillor ( 3 terms ) involved in work with Disability Sector

Jane Johnston ( CHAIR ) introduced herself : Founder member of both the Kerikeri and the Paihia Ratepayers Associations.

Alan Preston ( SECRETARY ) introduced himself with reasons for setting up this network, the website and the Federation

Masterton Ratepayers - Lyn Riley - set up 12 months ago , now with about 300 members. ( have committed to membership )

Ruakaka Ratepayers : Richard Morris. ( they have committed to membership )

Hamilton Ratepayers - Carolyn McKenzie ( all gathered at Carolyn's place ) .

Mischelle Rhodes - spoke about the bird park development Peacock Road, Agenda 21 , Public Works Act , legality of test case. Rise UP

Jane enquired as to whether Mark Kilgour ( Waikato University lecturer in Media Studies ) was still involved in the Association.

Meeting officially started at 3.17

APOLOGIES : N.B. E-mails , with reminders, had been sent out to as many Associations as we have contact details for ( hundreds ) .

Jane spoke re Reynold McPherson ( Rotorua Ratepayers who ended up joining the meeting about half way through.

ABSENT : TREASURER : Johh Riddell ( Massey-Birdwood Settlers' Association ) N.B. All attempts to communicate with John have been unsuccessful .

CHAIRPERSON'S ANNUAL REPORT

3.30 p.m.

Jane Johnston read her newsletter as her Chairperson's Report.

She made the link to the newsletter available through the Chat window in Zoom so that people could read it as she went through all the submissions she had made through the last year.

There was some discussion re the mis-naming of the group - by John Riddell during his first term as Chair - during the process of setting up the Incorporated Society ( matter's arising )

2020 AGM John Riddell lost his position as Chair but succeeded in becoming our Treasurer but after continuous inaction by John , Jane and Alan went ahead set up the KiwiBank Account - that John had initiated proceedings for.

Jane reviewed the early committee and her work on submissions on Public Service Act re organizations not having adequate levels of capabilities. Interference in decision-making processes.

Submission on infrastructure strategy. Overreach by Commission. Lack of ratepayer inclusion at any level. Jane explained the basis of her submissions and referred to the lack of response

TREASURER'S REPORT

As John Riddell has never responded to any of our many attempts to contact him and as he was absent from this meeting , our Chairperson , Jane Johnston read the Treasurer's Report.

Annual Financial Statement $220

Commitments from Paihia/Kerikeri amalgamated Association , Masterton Ratepayers, Ruakaka Ratepayers and Alan Preston to pay for memberships will bring this up to

$285

EXPENDITURE by Jane Johnstone of

$56.81 for the website URL http://www.foranz.org.nz/

$50 for design of Logo

which is to be used as a letterhead for outgoing correspondences - submissions on business cards.

& the Zoom account - for a years' subscription.

A total of $274 owing to Jane Johnston.

MATTERS ARISING FROM TREASURER'S REPORT

That we write off the debt - estimated to have been about $160 when John collected the membership fees paid in cash at the last AGM at the Massey-Birdwood Hall.

Discussion followed. George Belling joined the meeting with the Hamilton group.

SETTING THE MEMBERSHIP FEES : Association $20

Corporate $10

Affiliate individual member : $5

to remain the same.

Invoices are to be sent out to all member organisations at the end of each financial year.
