Sorting out Pomeroy groups: 1520-1590:

1. Berry Pomeroy and Brixham: Descendants of Sir Thomas Pomeroy, of Berry Pomeroy

2. Paignton: John Pomeroy of Paignton. (A Cousin of Sir Thomas?)

3. Bowdon at Magna Totnes: Richard Pomeroy, of Bowdon at Totnes, 2nd cousin of Sir Thomas.

4. The Mortimer Connection: Henry Pomeroy alias Henry Mortimer & Tristram Pomeroy alias Mortimer. (Relationship to Berry Pomeroy extremely close, as they had concerns with property directly in possession of Sir Thomas Pomeroy and his descendants, even after Seymour had possession of Berry Pomeroy.)

It is difficult to tell without being able to examine local records, just how this last (#4) Pomeroy Group, contemporary with the family of Sir Thomas Pomeroy, relates to either those at Berry Pomeroy and those at Bowden in Magna Totnes.

We need to look closer at Paignton, Churston Ferris and Dartmouth.
