Pomeroy connections to Sandridge, Devon in the late 1300's

Web page and research by Alma LaFrance

1349: Richard Pomeroy (circa 1292-1360-) deeds Sandridge to John de Grandisson, (1327-1369), Bishop of Exeter. Since the pattern seems to be that the 2nd Pomeroy son has Sandridge settled on him at marriage, I am led to think that the Richard in this record is the 2nd son of Henry Pomeroy VII and Amicia de Camville .

1362: John de Grandisson, Bishop of Exeter, gives Sandridge to his neice Sibel, and her husband Edmund de Arundell. He died in 1369.

1371: Thomas Pomeroy* (c 1328-c1403) 5th son of Henry Pomeroy (VIII) (1291-1367) takes on the task of getting Sandridge back in Pomeroy control. Married of Johanna. Father of Edward de la Pomeray.

1372 Thomas is going on journey for the King, and gives certain men "power of attorney" and control of his property while he is gone.

* POWLEY feels that this is Thomas, son of Henry and Joanna Moels, because Edward de la Pomerai, holder of Tregony by 1404, with Margaret received in 1404 back from Robert Saundre, vicar of Stoke Gabriel, all lands in Sandridge, Wille, (Lower Well Farm in Stoke Gabriel, Walle; Lake : This Edward was a son of the Thomas in question,. (Vivian) Huddesfield recites at Inquisition post mortem Hen VIII.
