Graham Gibbs - Reflective Cycle
Description
There were instances where we organised post-exam activities for the students. Some examples of the activities included, pizza making and movie screening. For the pizza making, each student is given a set amount of ingredients which they can decorate their pizza with. We assisted by guiding the students to ensure order and safety by cutting the ingredients for them. The students enjoyed the activity a lot and at their pizzas at the end.
Feelings and Emotional responses from the situation
Since the students were excited, they were generally relatively noisy. It was difficult to quieten them down without dampening their spirits. The teachers were raising their voices at the students to quieten them however, it was not very effective and it soon became noisy again.
Conclusion
Hence, I learnt in the future, it would be more effective to tell groups of students to quiet down instead of raising one's voice to quiet down the students. Also, there were some students who took a longer time than others to decorate their pizza. I learnt that we should be more observant to better identify the students that require more assistance, to ensure that the activity would proceed smoothly without delays
