Donald Schon - Reflection-on-action
I was part of the Summer School program for "Korea University" from 27th June 2016 to 28th July 2016. The module i completed was the "Beginning Korean I-G" module. I scored an A+ for the module and was awarded the Academic Excellence Award. I also experienced Korean culture first hand and was able to observe the cultural differences. For instance, i was in the Taekwondo extra curricular activity. Other than that, I also experienced a temple stay, where i learnt the roots of Korean culture and their values. It was indeed a very meaningful and interesting experience.
Through this summer school experience, I managed to interact with people of different countries. It was interesting to note how people of different races and nationalities would come together to learn the Korean language. Moreover, it was my first time being alone for a month away from my country and my family.
Also, using Bandura's social learning theory, this trained me to be more independent and to be more alert of my surroundings. This is highly applicable especially when I step into the working society, where we have to be responsible and accountable for our actions. Also, it may also be possible for me to have to travel to other countries for my job, where adaptability is key.
