I choose to do a redesign on the computer lab as that is the room that I would like to make the biggest change in at my school. The District is looking at piloting a Chromebook lab so I did a draft of a possible redesign for that lab. I recently visited a school that had a lab similar to the model I've designed. This is also the set-up used for committee work at CTA State Council and works very well. We have a board room horse shoe design for large group work. Round tables for small group break out work.
Tables with wheels so they can be quickly and easily moved out of the way if more floor space is needed. One wall of white board space for students to collaborate together. Instead of a large traditional teacher desk, a DJ style work station on wheels. Ceiling mounted projector is a must.
The article Designing Spaces for Effective Learning talked about being flexible in your design. Which is one of the things I want with the lab.
