Wow hard to believe another section of the IEC program has come to an end and it looks like I have made it through. If only all wishes could come true I would have more time to devote to this program. I'm amassing quit a list of material to look at further at a later time. Growing my network of contacts to reach out to when I'm looking for help.
At the recent CUE Rockstar in Petaluma I was able to talk with for IEC cohort members Ed Campos and Lisa Nowakowski. I'm looking forward to meeting current cohort members at the annual CUE Conference in Palm Springs. I'm in my 21st year of teaching and having more fun this year than I have had in years!
I have used some form of technology in my music classes for years. But with the flipped unit in this course it made me realize I could use a modified flip model more in my teaching. Since I'm writing this up late I was at a school board meeting tonight and one of the principals was say she wanted to film math lesson for parents for part of the schools community engagement plan. The first thing that poped into my mind was using the iPads to create videos showing how to work math problems with either Explain Everything or Educreations. Could demo how to do this at next Appy Hour if teachers are interested.
Which leads me to project status working with teachers on how to use 1 iPad in the class has been going pretty well. Have an edmodo page for teachers, running monthly Appy Hours at a local coffee shop, and making recommendations to district for apps for purchase.
As for electives my current plan is to wait until Summer to start as I'm just to busy at this time to start them. Since my goal is to get as much from the program s possible and not to just have a piece of paper when all is said and done then waiting to when I have a little more time is the best decision I can make when it come to electives.
One thing I do need to be better with is posting more in the G+ community. I do read the community posted set to send me notifications every time someone posts so I do read every time someone posts. But I have not been posting as much as I should.
It has been fun digging a little deeper into topics I have been reading about on twitter for the last year or so. Looking forward to continuing to explore and use what I have started.
