This is my yearbook picture for this year. I did not take my diamond axe to school for picture day but I did take my Steve head and I also had my Creeper head with me both which reside in my classroom along with a Redstone Ore. These are all items I have collected at the San Diego Comic Con over the last few years. I started playing Mindcraft last year when students asked if we could play at school. I would love to have MindcraftEDU at my school, but unfortunately at the current time we have thin clients in the computer lab and they will not support running mindcraft.
I joined a group of friends in creative mode to build the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D from Star Trek Next Generation in mindcraft to scale. This was an amazing project for a bunch of SciFi Geeks. Through this process I learned how powerful this could be for students. They can build anything they want to scale in Mindcraft. I was the weakest builder in the Enterprise project but had a blast working on it.
Mindcraft is a sandbox game. Drop you off in the sand and let you build and go. Kids love to play in the sand and create.
