Training Tip for Tall Weightlifters

A question that comes up frequently from our tall club members is how to get their knees in the right position when the bar is passing the knee during the snatch and clean. Relatively long legs can make this hard to do without raising the hips prematurely.

Greg Everett at Catalyst Athletics wrote about this issue in his article The Effects of Leg Length on the Olympic Lifts. He notes that a small amount of early hip rise in a taller athlete is ok, and there are slight technique adjustments that a taller lifter can try to minimize it.
