I'm Somebody Award is given by the captains and coaches for an outstanding "Redhawk-like" performance at the previous varsity dual or tournament.

11/26/2011: Tom Mitrenga 160. Tom started the year going 3-0 at 160 pounds, defeating three tough opponents to start his senior season off right. Great Job Tom!

12/02/2011: Ryan Berg 195. Ryan earns his first varsity win as a Redhawk with an impressive 19-9 major decision at 195 pounds. Ryan scored 8 takedowns in the match. Congrats Ryan!

12/03/2011: Kirk Cherep 132. Kirk recorded 2 wins at the Mega-Duals to improve to 6-1 on the year. Kirk won by fall and technical fall and scored five times by nearfall. Way to Go Kirk!

12/08/2011: Steven Splan 120. Steven recorded a come-from-behind 10-4 victory against Wheaton North at home. Steven scored two takedowns and two sets of near-fall points in his win. Nice Going Steven!

12/09/2011: Kyle Klass 170. Kyle came from behind twice, scoring an escape with just seconds left in the match to win 6-5 against West Aurora at home. Very Exciting Kyle!

12/10/2011: Tom Mitrenga 160. Tom won his second "I'm Somebody" with a tournament win at Hoffman Estates. Tom won three matches including a pin in the finals to get the gold. Outstanding Tom!

12/16-17/2011: Ryan Berg 195. Ryan finished the Whitlatch tournament with a record of 5-1 and avenged his one loss in the wrestlebacks, scoring a 3-1 overtime victory in the final seconds of overtime. Way to Fight Ryan!

12/22/2011: Steven Splan 120. Steven battled in a close match against Portland Michigan, then scored a late third period fall against an opponent who place in state last year in Michigan. Well Done Steven!

12/28/2011: Hunter Stephens 145. Hunter scored three wins including two wins by fall at the Naperville Quad to lead the Redhawks to three dual victories. Excellent Hunter!

1/05/2012: Derek Wilke 106. Derek scored five takedowns and put up two sets of nearfall points to win 15-5 in front of the home crowd against Wheaton Warrenville South. Way to Go Derek!

1/06/2012: Kyle Klass 170. Kyle scored two takedowns in the first period and added another takedown in both the secon and third periods to battle to a 10-6 victory in front of the home crowd against Glenbard North. Great Job Kyle!

1/07/2012: Ben Williamson 126. Ben defeated Rodriquez of Downers Grove North 10-9 to help the Redhawks in their dual 30-29. Ben went on to win against Bartlett 6-0 and Champaign Central 48-21 to go 3-0 on the day. Terrific Day Ben!

1/12/2012: Luke Roth 182. Luke defeated Brancaleon of Naperville North to lead the Redhawks to a 34-21 win against their cross-town rivals. Luke scored six takedowns in a fantastic performance. Awesome Luke!

1/14/2012: Ryan Berg 195. Ryan gets his third "I'm Somebody" for the year after dismantling his opponents at the Mahomet-Seymour Tournament. Ryan, the third seed, won for matches and didn't have an offensive point scored against him in route to championship! Way to Go Ryan!

1/21/2012: Hunter Stephens 145. Hunter scores a pin in the second period against Thronton Fractional South at home! Nice Job Hunter!

1/24/2012: Dan Henkel 160. Dan moved into the line-up at 160 pounds and earned a pin for the Redhawks on Senior Night. Way to Go Dan!

1/28/2012: Kirk Cherep 132. Kirk won his first match by fall and his semifinal match 2-0 to advance to the finals of the DVC Tournament before pushing 2nd ranked Gosinski of GN to double-overtime. Kirk took 2nd in the conference tournament and helped lead the way to the Redhawks best finish in the DVC in 21 years. Great Going Kirk!

2/4/2012: Nick Pratt. Nick helped the team win a Regional Championship by helping film most all the matches throughout the wrestling season. Through thin and thick, Nick was there doing his job and cheering the wrestlers on to victory. Honorable mention is our wrestling managers who have helped keep stats for the team all year - particularly Kailyn Gebner, Emily Weithman, and Lauren Michel who were present on this date to record the gold medal effort. Thanks for your help Nick and girls!
