2. Diet Suggested Foods

Meats - Include only lean beef, lamb, veal and liver. Trim off all visible fat before eating. All meats should be well cooked-grilled or boiled; avoid meats fried in fat or oil.

Poultry - Before eating chicken or turkey, trim off all skin and visible fat, eat only the lean meat. Don't eat skin.

Fish - Enjoy large quantities of fish, fine low calorie food is delicious broiled, baked or boiled. If possible, don't eat skin on your portion.

Eggs - Excellent protein food, high in calcium, minerals and vitamin A. Enjoy eggs boiled, poached or fried without fat in a non-stick pan.

Vegetables - You can eat most vegetables without sauces. Avoid the few vegetables that are high in calories: beans, peas, potatoes, and avocados. Enjoy salads with low-calorie dressing, lemon juice or a little vinegar. NO oil or heavy dressing.

Fruits - Enjoy fresh fruit in limited quantities. Canned fruits are permissible, but only in their natural unsweetened juices.

Soups - you can have plenty of no-fat bouillon broth and some low calorie soups; not salty or spicy soups, hot bean or cream soups or other high-calorie types.

Cheeses - You may enjoy limited quantities of cottage cheese. Avoid other cheeses.

Breads and Cereals - You may have 1 or 2 slices of whole wheat or rye melba toast or rye wafers spread lightly with artificially sweetened jam, jelly, or preserves, if desired, but No butter or margarine. Small portions of unsweetened hot or cold cereals, adding artificial sweeteners and a little skim milk if wanted but No butter, margarine, whole milk, cream, sugar, syrup or honey.

Desserts - Don't eat cakes, cookies, ice cream, pudding, candy or any other rich dessert. Enjoy no sugar added fruit and artificially sweetened gelatin desserts of all flavors.

Beverages – Drink water. You can’t put anything better into your system. 100% pure juices and milk would be the next best choices. Sodas are not a good choice for beverages and most sports drinks contain too much high fructose corn syrup to be any good.
