C. Speed

Speed is improved upon through repetition of technique (drill and practice), stretching, conditioning, and mat strategy. Specific exercises to improve speed include short hard goes, situation drills, quick explosive sprints and wrestling starts, and explosive weight lifting. Speed will be addressed in wrestling technique practice, conditioning, and weightlifting. Working specifically for improvement in speed is rarely pinpointed. This should not diminish the value of speed in wrestling. A fast wrestler is often a deadly one, and every effort should be taken to use speed to our advantage. As we say: speed kills!
