I'm Somebody Award 2006-2007

I'm Somebody Award is given by the captains and coaches for an outstanding "Redhawk-like" performance at the previous varsity dual or tournament.

11/22/2006: Anthony Lewis 215. Anthony won two tough matches at the Naperville Quad in Neuqua Valley. Anthony battled in two close matches winning 6-0 and 10-9. Good Job Anthony!

11/25/2006: Taylor Patton 135. Taylor scored two big pins for his first varsity wins in a triangular against Downers Grove South and Lane Tech. Way to go Taylor!

12/1/2006: Matt Gorback 145. Matt fought move-for-move at Naperville North and won a critical match in overtime 3-2 to help the Redhawks defeat Naperville North for the first time in 15 years. Awesome Matt!

12/2/2006: Anthony Lewis 215. Anthony won all three matches at the Megaduals to improve to 6-2 on the year for his second "I'm Somebody" award. Anthony, up 3-2 in the third period, scored a critical takedown to put the match out of reach. Nice Job Anthony!

12/7/2006: Taylor Patton 135. Taylor iced the dual against Downers Grove North with a second period pin. It is Taylor's second "I'm Somebody Award" for the season. Excellent Taylor!

12/8/2006: Chase Muscato 119. Chase erased a 9-1 deficit to win his match by fall late in the third period. Chase scored 8 points in the third period to take the lead before his fall with just three second left in the match. Fantastic Chase!

12/9/2006: Chase Muscato 119. Chase continued to impress his coaches, teammates and fans with another top performance, this time by winning his first varsity tournament at Hoffman Estates. Chase won three matches by scores of 2-1, 4-3, and 6-5. Top Notch Chase!

12/14/2006: Jon Coluzzi 152. Jon scored his 3rd technical fall of the year and improved his season record to 11-3 on the year when he won 20-3 in his match at Wheaton Warrenville South. Jon lead the Redhawks to 12 victories out of 13 matches against the Tigers. Keep Up The Good Work Jon!

12/15 - 16/2006: Chris Graeber 171. Chris won three matches in route to his 2nd place finish at the "Whitlatch" Tournament held at Hinsdale Central High School. Well Done Chris!

12/22/2006: Stephen Graeber 189. Stephen scored a key pin against Leyden as the Redhawks held on to a nail biter at home. Stephen's pin came in the first period and put Central ahead by 12. Nice Going Stephen!

12/28/2006: Chris Graeber 171. Chris defeated state-ranked Brewer of Mahomet-Seymour by a major decision to help the Redhawks finish out 2006 is style. Chris's scored 4 takedowns as Central improved to 11-3 on the year. Fantastic Chris!

1/5/2007: Matt Hammack and Keenan Marr 112 and 125. Matt defeated Concha 7-3 and Marr revenged an earlier lost to Hood to help the Redhawks squeak by West Aurora 35-34 in conference action. Outstanding Matt and Keenan!

1/6/2007: Jon Coluzzi 152. Jon went 2-0 at Sandberg duals against Sandberg and Hinsdale South to improve to 19-5 on the year. Jon avenged an earlier lost to his Hinsdale South opponent. Out of this World Jon!

1/11/2007: Jon Coluzzi 152. Jon defeated Hope of Glenbard North by scoring early and getting off the bottom in two tough situations. Jon now has won I'm Somebody for the third time. You are Somebody Jon!

1/12/2007: Connor Marr 103. Connor scored a big win against DVC opponent Wheaton North and held on to win at home 14-7! Connor gave a gutty effort in the victory. Great Effort Connor!

1/13/2007: Taylor Patton 135. Taylor Patton came back through the wrestle-backs aggressively winning 3 matches and the 17 team Batavia Invitational to take 7th place. Taylor improved through each match in the tournament. Way to fight Taylor!

1/19/2007: Andy Kovalsky 130. With the score tied at 29-29 against DVC foe Glenbard East, NCHS sent out freshman Andy Kovalsky. Andy delivered the victory to the Redhawks with a decisive 11-4 victory and his first varsity win. Great Performance Andy!

1/26/2007: Parents, Coaches, Pin Pals, and Volunteers. There were too many outstanding performances at the DVC Conference tournament to choose one "Somebody," so this week the award goes out to all that help the wrestlers wrestle their best all year. Thanks folks, you are Somebody!
