3. Create a Successful Attitude

a. Use only positive statements - change from "I can't" to "I can".

i. no negative talk at workouts / only positive statements

ii. change "I have to" to "I want to"

b. Be realistic. Realize that success in wrestling comes from hard work and discipline. - Champions are not extraordinary people, they are normal people who do extraordinary things.

c. Don't limit yourself - don't fear failure

i. never run away from someone who is a little better than you, they will make you better.

ii. correct don't protect

iii. positive mistakes (many times a loss is a better teacher than winning). Analyze a loss or mistake, learn from it, and then forget it. Don't dwell on the negative.

d. Practice for perfection

i. don't cruise

ii. ask yourself, "will I be able to do this when the pressure is on?"

e. Don't take criticism personally - don't categorize yourself as a good or bad wrestler, just one at a certain level

f. Simulate unfavorable conditions - expect the unexpected and practice overcoming unforeseen events and obstacles

g. Make the most out of each and every situation - ask the key question - "what can I do to get the most out of practice and have fun while doing it?"
