I'm Somebody 2013-2014
I'm Somebody Award is given by the captains and coaches for an outstanding "Redhawk-like" performance at the previous varsity dual or tournament.
11/30/2013: Connor Cesaretti - Connor kicks off the new season with three straight victorys at home. Connor scored 7 takedowns with a pin and a major decision. Great Job Connor!
12/6/2013: Nick Nunziato - Nick scored five points, a takedown and three neaerfall on a headlock in the final seconds to beat his opponent from Lake Park by a score of 8-5. Nice Throw Nick!
12/7/2013: Robby Martins - Robby finished the Mega-duals 3-0 not having an offiensive point scored on him. Well Done Robby!
12/13/2013: Riley Guttosch - Riley scored three takedowns in a varsity win at Glenbard East by a score of 11-1. Excellent Riley!
12/14/2013: Rick Marciniak - Rick came from down 0-4 to win third place by a score of 8-4 at the Hoffman Estates Tournament. Fantastic Rick!
12/21/2013: Derek Wilke - Derek won three matches and the competitive Whiltlatch Tournament to finish in 7th place. Derek won by fall in his place match. Great Effort Derek!
12/28/2013: Cam Hayes - Cam scored four takedowns at home against Sandburg including two in the final frame to win by a major decision 9-1. Way to go Cam!
1/3/2014: Derek Wilke - Derek scored three wins at home in the Naperville Quad with scores of 9-1, 21-4, and 12-2. He did not allow a single offensive point scored against him. Nice Work Derek!
1/4/2014: Cam Hayes - Cam finished 3-0 wrestling at Schaumburg including a 4-2 victory and a fall. Great Wrestling Cam!
1/10/2014: Riley Guttosch - Riley scored two takedowns and three sets of nearfalls to win by major decision against Wheaton Warrenville South. Excellent Job Riley!
1/11/2014: Ben Williamson - Ben locked down three wins in three duals at Downers Grove North. Ben won by a 5-2 decision, a fall, and a technical fall. Way To Go Ben!
1/16/2014: Hayden Saldivar - Hayden scored a key takedown just before the first period expired and then a quick escape to start the seond period to then coast to a 7-2 victory at home against DVC foe Wheaton North. Wow Hayden!
1/18/2014: Shuji Mizoguchi - Shuji scored three wins at Mahomet-Seymour to take fifth place in the 21 team tournament. Shuji avenged his own loss with a fall against the wrestler who beat him earlier. Nicely done Shuji!
1/16/2014: Alex Hunter - Alex scored a takedown in the third period with a back-heal trip to win his match 4-2 and secure a key win in a Redhawk dual DVC victory. Way to Go Alex!
1/18/2014: Matt Chobak - Matt scored two takedowns and two key escapes to state the Crosstown Clash with a victory for the Redhawks. Fantastic Matt!
2/2/2014: Derek Wilke - Derek won three matches in impressive style taking third place in the DVC conference meet. He compiled 44 points in his three wins will giving up only 2 points –both on intentional escapes. Wow Derek!
2/8/2014: Ben Williamson - Ben won two matches at the IHSA Regional to once again qualify for the Sectional Tournament. Ben avenged an earlier loss to Johnnic of Wheaton Warrenville South by a score of 4-1 to qualify. Excellent Job Ben!
2/15/2014: Ben Williamson - Ben finished with four more wins to take 4th place at the IHSA Sectional to qualify for State for the second year in a row. The junior becomes a 30 match winner for the third time. Unbelieveable Ben!
2/22/2014: Ben Williamson - Ben earned one more win to finish in the top eight at in the state. Ben's win came by fall against Aquirre of Oswego. Great Season Ben!
