Your Exam will begin using Adobe Photoshop.
- Create a Project folder in your documents/on your desktop named GDI Final.
- Download and save the image falcon-final.jpg from the bottom of this page.
- Use the quick select tool to remove the white from around the falcon, and then save the file in a format that allow for transparent backgrounds.
Next, open up Illustrator.
- Download the file final-base.ai, and save it in your project folder.
- Place the falcon image into the document, and be sure to embed it.
- Size the Falcon down to where his width is about one-half the document's width.
- Using the Pen tool, trace the object in the lower right corner. You can only use 4 anchor points in doing so; it is 15 points off per extra anchor point.
- When you have completed the path, fill this object with a gradient that starts out as white in the upper left corner and transitions to a gray from to the lower right corner.
- Draw a black rectangle that covers the entire artboard, and then send it to the back of your artboard.
- Double-click on the fill color swatch on your tools panel, and then set it to the following values: C: 12, M:20, Y:59 K:17
- Click and drag that swatch over to your swatches panel.
- Select all objects EXCEPT the falcon, and then use the live paint tool to paint the right-hand side of the rectangle with this swatch, leaving the left-hand side black.
- Expand your live paint group when done, and then ungroup these objects.
- Add the text as seen, using the following settings:
- FALCONS: Font - Niagara Solid, with character settings of 100% horizontal and 150% vertical scale, tracking value of 100, and 130 point font size.
- 2014: Niagara Solid, character settings of 100% vertical / horizontal scale, tracking value of 200, 80 point font size.
- This is our time: Font - Gill Sans MT, Tracking value of 5, 125% vertical scale, 100% vertical scale, 20 point font size.
- Re-arrange your artwork so that it is stacked/ordered as seen in the final product.

- Be sure that all blacks used in your design are 'Rich' blacks, according to the CMYK color settings.
- Flag me down to grade your finished product.
