"A Journey Through Psalms & Proverbs" (Fall 2021)

The Book of Psalms is the longest, and perhaps the best-known book of the Bible. Yet many Christians are only vaguely aware of the deeper truths found in its pages. In this book are found a wide variety of topics such as jubilation, war, peace, worship, judgement, prophecy, praise, and lament. In this class we’ll consider a number of the main teachings of the Psalms in a way that you may not have approached them in the past. We’ll see how God’s heart is revealed through them, and find encouragement that will help us in our day-to-day battles.

To many, the message of the Proverbs seems hopelessly old-fashioned and out of touch with the challenges of modern life. Yet in spite of all our technological advances and our ever-changing culture, the Proverbs are just as relevant to today’s society as they were when written nearly 3000 years ago, because human nature hasn’t changed. We still seek answers to the same types of problems and concerns as our forebears. In this class we’ll spend some time on each of the main categories of wisdom found in the Proverbs.
