March 20 - April 12, 2015
Inevitable Instructors along with ISTE's Games & Simulations Network will be doing a March Madness book club.
Track 1: Game Studies of Interactive Fiction (IF)
Sherry Jones, the creator of the Rhetoric and Games MOOC or rgMOOC, has guided us through Game Studies, Gender and Games and now we delve into the realm of interactive fiction. IF offers educators and non educators a way to create games that can be digital or non digital. The fundamental concept of IF is the branching storyline that allows the author to design a story where the readers must make decisions as the story unfolds and based on their actions and decisions, affecting the outcome of the story. Join Sherry in Track 1: Game Studies of Interactive Fiction and delve deeper into one of the fundamental building blocks of today's games!

Track 2: The Multiplayer Classroom: Designing Coursework on a Game
Join us as we explore gamification of curriculum using Dr. Sheldon's book as a reference. Our intrepid guides from Inevitable Instructors are back and will serve as guides on the side during our three week journey. Over the course of the next three week, the book will help provide a strong foundation of how to go about transforming a traditional class into a gamified class. However, our friends at Inevitable Instructors will supplement the text reading with videos, personal experience, and lessons learned from their own forays into gamification and game based learning. Come join us at Track 2: The Multiplayer Classroom and explore what game mechanics could work for your class and collaborate with others.
