GAME STUDIES REVISITED: A REPOSITORY

Hello and welcome! This is Sherry Jones, your Track 1: Game Studies facilitator at the Metagame Book Club. As an educator and a game-based learning practitioner, I have applied both commercial games and indie games to my teaching practices, and have seen students become more engaged with the learning process, become more interested in understanding social issues, and develop greater empathy for others through game playing. My research in game studies also has led me to recognize that games are much more than "play things," but play things that are meaningful.

Since July 15, 2014, I have published several articles regarding research, theories, and controversial topics explored in the field of Game Studies. Some articles contain links to a plethora of research materials on how games are used for education, medicine, science, politics, humanitarian efforts, ethics, and much more. Other articles offer links to recommended commercial and indie games that can be or have been used for teaching and learning purposes.

This page serves as a portal to the past articles that I have published for the book club. Periodically, I will be updating this page as future sessions are offered. If you are interested in learning more about the current state of game research, consider this page as an entry way to the world of Game Studies.

Enjoy the readings! Onward~
