In the name of God, amen, the 4th day of October the year of our lord God 1515, I William Hall of Debden, whole in mind, make my testament in this wise. First I bequeath my soul unto almighty God and to his blessed mother Mary and to all the holy company of heaven, my body to be buried in the churchyard of All Hallows of Debden aforesaid. Item I bequeath unto the high altar there 12 d. Item to the torches a combe (4 bushels) barley. Item half a trental in the church of Debden. Item to the Holy Rood Guild 2 bushels barley. Item I owe to Joan Hall 2 s. Item after the decease of my wife I bequeath 2 beasts to the Holy Rood Guild to keep my obit perpetual, the wardens to have for their labors 4 d, if any be left to remain to the guild. The residue of my goods not given nor bequeathed I give and bequeath unto Florence my wife and to John Eyeston my brother that they ordain and dispose for the weal of my soul as best can be found by their discretion. Made at Debden the day and year rehearsed. They being witness William Mason, Thomas Hokley, and Nicholas Kylogg, and hereto I have set my seal.
