Saunderton
Mead in Princes Risborough, Saunderton, Horsenden
This is an attempt to create a family tree for the Mead family of the parishes of Princes Risborough, Monks Risborough, Horsenden and Saunderton, which are within about a mile or two of each other in western Buckinghamshire. I have some of the wills and a few parish records, as well as other records, but I'm not sure of all the relationships. This is a best guess based on the available evidence.
Prior to Thomas Mede there were several Medes in Saunderton, the Risboroughs, and Horsenden:
Born 1390 to 1420
John Mede alias Thrassher, of Saunderton St Mary, husbandman, Common Pleas, found 1449-1452
Born 1400 to 1440
Richard atte Mede, manorial record, landholder in Horsenden and Saunderton in 1462
Born 1440 to 1450
William Mede, of Saunderton, husbandman, Common Pleas, found 1479 to 1507
Gilbert Mede, of Saunderton, husbandman, Common Pleas, found 1483 to 1505
John Mede, of Saunderton, CP, found in 1483
Richard Mede of Saunderton is found in CP 1499 to 1519.
Born about 1470
Thomas Mede, found 1520 to 1536
Also, I think there is a strong possibility that John Meade of Chinnor (will 1611) is the son of John Mede of Princes Risborough (will 1546). The two places are just a few miles apart, and the younger John Meade was a carpenter. In his will, John Mede (1546) stipulated that his sons John and Edward should be apprenticed to become carpenters. This is not at all certain; I'll be looking for additional evidence.
