Robert Goldhurst of Rickmansworth, husbandman, 1518

In dei nomine Amen the Xth day of the month of April the year of the reign of King Henry VIII in the year of our lord 1518 I Robert Goldhurst of Rickmansworth in the county of Hertford, husbandman, whole in mind ordain & make my last will in manner & form following. First I bequeath my soul to almighty God & to our lady Saint Mary & to all the holy company of heaven and my body to be buried in the churchyard of Rickmansworth. Item I bequeath to the high altar of Rickmansworth for my tithes & oblations forgotten iiis. iiiid. Item to Saint Albans vi d. Item to the parish church of Stanor the more (Great Stanmore, Middlesex?) to the high altar x s. Item to the churchwardens of the same for the behalf of the whole parish iiis iiiid. Item I bequeath to the high altar of Bushey xiid. Item I will that Henry my son shall have my (unclear) lease purchased of the monastery of Saint Albans (unclear) to his own behoof during his life and after his decease to remain to the next of his kin remaining, the said lease as thendenture doth appear and to this I would that William Baldwin should keep my lease to behoof of my child. And I would that Maryon my wife should occupy my farm during my old lease to her most advantage. And I would that Henry my son shall give unto his brother Thomas xx s. of money to be paid to the said Thomas the third year after the entering of the lease. Item I bequeath to the residue of my children each of them xxs. which I would that my son Henry should content & truly pay to them at their full being xxi years of age. Item I bequeath to Thomas, John, Robert, William, Richard & William my children each of them v sheep. The residue of all my goods my debts paid I give unto Maryon my wife & Henry my son which I ordain & make my executors to dispose for the which for my soul as they think best. And William Baldwin I make my supervisor & for his labour bequeath him xxs. Item I bequeath to the churchwardens of Rickmansworth for the repairing of the church vis. viiid. To this my last will I have set to my selthe day & year above said, these being witnesses Richard (unclear) John Colins.
