Ashridge

These Medes are from the area of Tring, Pitstone, Ivinghoe and Berkhamsted, in the Chilterns in Bucks and Herts. They are within a few miles of each other, and all within two miles of Ashridge Priory, which owned property in Tring, Ivinghoe, Aldbury and Pitstone. There is no evidence that these Medes are related, except possibly John Mede and John Mede junior in Pitsone. The interest for me is that they are about eight to ten miles from Watford, where Richard Mede first appears in 1545. This is closer than other concentrations of Medes, for example in Soulbury/Wing, and in Saunderton/Horsington.

The records are found elsewhere on this site, on the pages for Bucks Medes, Herts Medes, and legal records.
