Sept 2020 Papoose Article


On July 19, all three of Lake Mohawk’s fleets competed in the Gabor Cup Regatta, sponsored by the Lightning Fleet. The Regatta was sailed in strong winds out of the southwest, with substantial gusts and shifts. John Trela in a Sunfish came in fourth. Tim Mackey and his son Chris dueled it out in a close sailing battle in Snipes. Tim was able to edge out his son Chris giving Tim second place and Chris third. Rich Miner and crew Gail and Bob led from start to finish in their Lightning to capture first place in the Regatta. The trophies and refreshments at the ceremony were provided by the Lightning Fleet.

Our next scheduled regatta is the Commodore’s Cup on September 13, 2020. Regattas are open, handicapped events so any LMCC member with a sailboat of any kind is welcome to join us. The following are the race official assignments for the upcoming weeks:
