Made by American Sail in Charleston SC. It is the boat the US Naval Academy uses to teach midshipmen how to sail.

It has bench seats with a back, so it's relatively comfortable, and designed to sail with minimum heel. I have never capsized it despite some mistakes, but it is rated as unsinkable. It is self-bailing, has simple rigging, seats 4+ people, and works well with a skipper and one crew member. It's not the fastest clipper in the fleet, but with handicapping, you could race it. I view it as an ideal, all-round family boat.
It has been refurbished and comes with new standing and running rigging; a new mainsail (2024), and a new furling jib (2025). Extras include a hatch for the small cubby, a folding stern ladder, and a new mooring cover. It does have some "dings of experience", but overall I think you will find it looks pretty nice.
It comes with a refurbished trailer with new springs, new tires, new lights, new winch, new jack with wheel, etc.
I'm also including a 3 hp electric motor (new in 2023) with a lithium battery, which has about an 8 mile range depending on your speed. I have found it helpful when the lake winds die unexpectedly.
For the last two winters, the boat and trailer have been stored inside at Danforth's in Ogdensburg, which is where it is now. I'm in New Mexico at the moment, but I will be back at the lake for the first week of March. I'm planning to pull the boat out of storage in late May, when you would be able to see it. I'm mentioning it now, hoping to get it on your radar.
I am asking $8,500 for the boat, trailer and motor. (A new boat, trailer and motor would probably run $25,000.) If you are tempted, I am sure we can work something out. Let me know.
