June 2001 Papoose Article

Our 2001 racing season officially began on Sunday, May 6. On the following weekend, racing was scheduled for Saturday, May 12 because Sunday, May 13 was Mother's Day. Thereafter racing resumed on May 20 and will continue on Sunday afternoons, starting at 1:00 PM from May 20 through October 7. There are twelve race days in both the Spring and Fall series with a potential of twenty four races in each series. You must sail 50% of the races actually raced in order to qualify.

The Gabor Cup Regatta, sponsored by the Lightning Fleet, was scheduled to be held on May 27. This is one of our three handicapped events open to all LMCC members with a sailboat of any kind. Due to press deadlines a report on this event was not available for this edition but will appear in next month's Papoose.

On the social calendar, please note that our Annual Family Picnic will coincide with the LMCC's July Fourth celebration. Other upcoming events to remember are regattas on July 1 and September 2. Board meetings will be held at 7:00 PM on June 10, July 22, August 19 and September 16. The annual meeting will be held on October 14 in the Papoose Room of the LMCC and our awards brunch will be on Sunday, November 18, 2001.
