The members of the Lake Mohawk Yacht Club extend their sincere condolences to the family of Fran Smith who was a great friend of our club and will be remembered for her loyal support. It was always a pleasure working with Fran who truly was the Lady of Lake Mohawk.

Sept. 16 brought a WSW wind of about 6 mph following a one hour postponement. Rich Miner and Hank Jelinek match raced in the Lightning Fleet as did John Marx and Constance Gill in the Snipe Fleet. Rich took another first and a problem with Hank's boat precluded a second race. John was first in both Snipe races. On Sept. 22 we had too much wind, so there were no races and on both Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 there was to little wind to sail resulting in more cancellations. Oct. 26 was the date for our Finish Line Party and Annual Meeting at the home of Cathy and Chuck Chute.

If you are looking for great Christmas gifts for a sailor, you can order shirts and gear with our logo through the club. Also, to help raise funds for the Junior Sailing Program, Haley Chute sells bags made from sails. They are available at Cathy Chute's Lake Mohawk Flower Shop in the plaza.

You can visit us on the web at www.lakemohawksailing.org. For more information about membership in the LMYC or, if you want to learn to sail, just call our Vice Commodore, Perry Anderson at (973)729-3904, email us at lakemohawksailing@gmail.com or write to us care of PO Box 29, Sparta, NJ 07871.

Until next month, smooth sailing

and God bless America,

Don Okner
