Our last official race day was October 18 ending another fun-filled year of competition. Although the wind and weather could have been better in our Fall Series, we still managed to make the most of what Mother Nature provided.

Here’s how things went for us on the race course during late September and early October. On Sept. 13 four Lightnings raced in wind from the north-northwest with Chuck Chute snagging two firsts, John Incantalupo a second and a fourth, Don Okner a third and a second and Hank Jelinek a fourth and a third.

The following week, on Sept. 20, we had a light wind out of the west-southwest that brought three Lightnings and three Snipes out. Rich Miner took two firsts in the Lightnings with John Incantalupo taking a third and second it two races and Chuck Chute a second in race one. In the Snipes, John Marx won both races with Constance Gill in second place and Jim Duffy third. We closed the month out on Sept. 27 with a cancellation due to rain early in the day followed by calm wind. Racing on Oct. 4 was also canceled due to light air.

Wednesday night racing, a new activity promoted by Constance Gill ended in September. This turned out to be a wonderful program that gave us the opportunity to do some mid-week sailing in Snipes and Sunfish. We salute Constance for her creativity and her dedication in running this event.

Our Annual Meeting was held on Oct. 17 at which time Perry Anderson was re-elected Commodore for 2010 and John Incantalupo was voted in as Vice Commodore. Our Rear Commodore for 2010 is Dave Newton, the Secretary is Jan Oldridge and Margie Incantalupo will again serve as Treasurer.

The LMYC’s final event for the year will be the Annual Awards brunch at the Lafayette House Restaurant on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 12:00 noon. This is always a great family event so plan to attend.
