May 2011 Papoose Article

Post date: May 14, 2011 5:06:42 PM

We began with a slight change in scheduling by having our Prep Signal Party on Friday, April 15th rather than on Saturday, the 16th. This was a great way to kick things off for 2011 as it provided our members an opportunity to regroup, make plans and to meet new members, as well. In that regard, the LMYC is pleased to welcome Brian Rooney as new member. Our Clean Up followed on April 16th. We thank all who gave of their time an effort to help ready our facilities for sailing.

On May 7th we will raise our masts and prepare our first races on May 15th. Following the mast raising, we will have a Cinco de Mayo Party at our club.

The following updated schedule of our planned events for 2011 is provided so that you can mark your calendars and make your plans:

· May 7th Mast Raising and Cinco de Mayo Party at the LMYC

· May 15th First Day of Racing (rain date May 22nd)

· May 29th Gabor Cup Regatta and Party at the LMYC following the racing

· July 2nd Independence Day Family Picnic

· July 3rd Marine Base Regatta

· July 5th Summer Youth Sailing Program begins

· July 23rd Mutiny Regatta

· August 5th Summer Youth Sailing Program ends

· August 13th Jack Robertson Cruising Day

· Sept 4th Commodore’s Cup Regatta and Party following the racing

· Oct 15th Finish Line Party (alternate date Oct. 22nd)
