March 2018 Papoose Article

posted Feb 23, 2018, 10:37 AM by Ian Oldridge

Wow! It’s not only 2018 but, it’s already March -- and in April, our activities will begin.  Next month, we will have our annual clean-up (ugh!) and ask that all members try to lend a hand.  The reward will be our first social event for the year, the Prep Signal Party.  And in May we can expect a Mast Raising event  where sailors and crew will assist one another in readying their boats for racing, followed by a Cinco de Mayo Party.  Please be on the alert for dates and times for these events as well as our first races which are likely to take place before May has ended.

We are once again offering our every popular Junior Sailing School which is open to children of all members of the Lake Mohawk Country Club.  We will have trained, US Sailing certified instructors teaching the classes.  Classes are open to LMCC members and will run from June 25, 2018 to July 27, 2018. There will be three levels of instruction.  Students must be age 10 and above. Space is limited. Here are the details:

 Dates: June 25, 2018 to July 27, 2018

  • Sailing Level 1: Monday, Tuesday Thursday
    • A.M. Class: 9:30 am – 12:15 pm, or
    • P.M. Class: 1:15 pm – 4:00 pm

To register, call Jan Oldridge at (973)729-3105 or email her at lmycjsp@gmail.com. Don’t wait until the last minute or you may be too late!

Remember, the LMYC is open to any LMCC members who are interested in sailing.  Therefore, plan to join us. For more information, you can visit us on the web at www.lakemohawksailing.org. Ian Oldridge has been doing a terrific job with our web-site.  It’s well worth the look! Also, you can email us at lakemohawksailing@gmail.com, or write us in care of PO Box 29, Sparta, NJ.

Until next month, smooth sailing and God bless America!
