As we come to the end of what has been a mild winter at Lake Mohawk, we are preparing for our 2012 sailing and activities. So LMYC members are asked to please make note of the following dates on your calendars:

+ Clean Up Day – April 21 with rain date of April 22

+ Prep Signal Party– April 21

+ Mast Raising and Cinco de Mayo Party– May 5

+ First Day of Racing – May 20

+ Gabor Cup Regatta and Makani Party – June 10

+ Independence Day Family Party – TBD (to coincide with the LMCC fireworks display)

+ Marine Base Regatta – July 8

+ Mutany Regatta – July 28

+ Jack Robertson Day – August 11

+ Commodore’s Cup Regatta and Party – September 2

+ Finish Line Party – October 27

+ Awards Banquet – December 2

And, even if you are not a member of the LMYC, you are reminded that anyone in the LMCC who owns a sailboat is invited to sail with us in any of our three, open regattas. The first will be the Gabor Cup on June 10 and you can race any type of sailboat that you may own because the regattas are handicapped using the Portsmouth yardstick. Who knows, you just may get bitten by the bug and decide become to join our club.

Keep an eye out for announcements for our Junior Sailing School and other events. The sailing school is extremely popular and enrollment is limited. We also will be offering adult and individual sailing lessons for those who are interested.
