The LMYC enjoys a great sailing history on Lake Mohawk. In sorting through sailing trophies, Perry Anderson came upon a wooden box with the following inscription: Lake Mohawk Yacht Club, S.C.I.R.A., Fleet Championship. S.C.I.R.A. is an abbreviation for "Snipe Class International Racing Association".

The contents of the box was special. It was a Snipe Perpetual Trophy for the years 1933 - 1965. The award winners were as follows:

The Lake Mohawk Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing School, which is open to children of all members of the Lake Mohawk Country Club, is a great way for your children to become part of our history and to learn the skill of sailing. This is the last call for the 2019 sailing school. Space is limited.

We will have trained, US Sailing certified instructors teaching the classes. Classes will run from June 24th, 2019 to July 26th, 2019. There will be three levels of instruction. Students must be age 10 and above. Here are the details:

Dates: June 24 2019 to July 26 2019

· Sailing Level 1: Monday, Tuesday Thursday

o A.M. Class: 9:30 am – 12:15 pm, or

o P.M. Class: 1:15 pm – 4:00 pm

· Sailing Level 2: Wed & Fri 9:30 am – 12:15 pm

· Sailing Level 3/3+ (Snipe Sailing): Wed & Fri 1:15 pm – 4:00 pm

· Students age 10 and above

· Cost: Level 1 - $375; Level 2 or 3 - $250
