The LMYC is pleased to welcome new members aboard. They are Rich and Emily Hodges, Joe and Laurie Gomez and Karen Tighe. We also met some prospective new members at our Prep Signal Party in April and extend to them an invitation to join us as well.
Our mast raising and tune up day had been scheduled for May 8th but was precluded due to rain in the morning followed by heavy winds in the afternoon that resulted in the loss of some shingles from the roof of the buoy room. Fortunately, no serious damage occurred and we were ready for racing on May 16th. Following the races we held a belated Cinco De Mayo Party.
Our first open regatta was the Gabor Cup on May 30th. We thank Lightning Fleet Captain Rich Miner and Gail Miner for running the event and John and Margie Incantalupo for running the LMYC’s third, annual Jimmy Buffett Parrot Head Party. More about these events next month when results of the regatta will be reported.
Our next regatta, the Marine Base Regatta, is scheduled for Independence Day, July 4th. Remember, regattas are open to all LMCC members with sailboats of any kind. Even if you have never raced before, you will have fun and may do better than you expect. So join us to race and compete for a trophy. Registration begins at 12:00 noon and the first race starts at 1:00 pm.
Registration for our Junior Sailing Program began on May 3rd for non-members of the LMYC. You need only be a LMCC member to apply. Registration forms and further information are available on our website at lmycsailing.org. Program inquiries can be directed to LMYCinfo@gmail.com, and the program phone number is 973-512-8867. Space is limited so sign up early.
If you want to join the LMYC, if you want to learn to sail or if you want more information, just call us at (973)512-8867, email us at sail@lakemohawksailing.org or write to PO Box 29, Sparta, NJ 07871.
Until next month, smooth sailing and God bless America!
