Interesting facts about UF dissertation template

  1. To compile, use pdflatex file.tex, and it is much faster to use command line to compile than the GUI
  2. You have to compile at least 3 times in order to get the Table of content in the dvi output file
  3. To convert .dvi to .pdf, use dvipdfm file.dvi, and the GUI wouldn't make the pdf for you.
  4. Only .eps is allowed for image, so you might want to convert all your .jpg, .pdf figures into .eps.
  5. You cannot use prime " ' " in the math notation, that is, $f'$ is NOT allowed. Instead, you have to use something like $\acute{f}$
  6. You usually get an error message regarding AppendixA "! LaTeX Error: Something's wrong--perhaps a missing \item." I know that this error message terminates the compilation when using TeXnicCenter. On the other hand, when using command line, we can hit Enter to pass through the error. And you will get the output file regardless of the error message.
